Despite wearing helmet mandatory and fines being imposed for not wearing it, the two-wheeler riders are least bothered and continuing helmetless rides.
To create awareness about the use of helmet and curb the road accidents, the Rachakonda police have distributed around 300 free helmets to the vehicles found riding without helmets during the road safety week held this year from February 4 and 10.
Majority of the road accident victims are of two-wheelers and the deaths occurred due to the head injuries. The passengers have to be aware of wearing the helmet and those who wear it only from being penalised said the founder of Indian Federation of Road Safety, Vinod Kumar Kasala.
As per the records, around 8,36,985 cases of helmet violation were registered last year.
