Ex SC Judge tipped to be country’s first Lokpal

According to the information received from officials on Sunday, the name of Ex supreme court judge Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose is reported to be in active consideration for appointment as India’s first Lokpal Chief, the anti-corruption ombudsman.

Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose retired from the supreme court in 2017 and is also a member of the National Human Rights Commission. It is being said that his name for the position is understood to be in active consideration by the lokpal selection panel that is headed by PM Modi.

However, there is no official announcement about Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose being appointed by the government. Since Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had boycotted the meeting of the selection panel on Friday, if the government makes his appointment, it may lead to a controversy.
